Scientists warn that factories in coastal villages are wreaking economic havoc

The work is a lot more profitable, because the factory buys more fish, and while the locals may be enjoying short-term gains, the community is less rosy, because attractive global prices are driving demand for sardinella, taking a crucial source of protein from the Gambians as the fishmeal business is wreaking havoc on local employment and the tourism economy, as Gambian locals warned. Before the arrival of fishmeal factories, villagers would catch barracuda, but their income had begun to dwindle in 2016, when the plants began operating in Gunjur, although now work is booming again, as their net catches all kinds of fish. They also supply third parties who export to Mali, but with the factories taking the lion’s share, trade has plummeted for those working in the supply chain, such as the fish sellers of one of the biggest fish landing sites of the Atlantic coast.

If your back hurts and it’s been going on for years, in order to try to reduce the pain, you might have got a standing desk, seen physical therapists and pain specialists, increased flexibility and at one point, the treatments helped a bit, at first, but sitting down is still painful. When you sit with a C shape, you’re sitting like a dog with its tail between its legs, so in order to straighten out we need to position the pelvis and unstuck our tails, by bending over properly.
